Another fabulous day in Alaska! We started out early. We all got up at 4:45am to catch the morning train to Seward. The girls just love getting up this early. NOT! We arrived at the train with no real problems (couldn't find the station at first). The train ride was beautiful. We sat in a dome car and had great views. We saw moose, eagle baby in a nest, a bear running on the tracks in front of the train and a funny animal that looks like a beaver but wasn't (can't remember it's name). The weather today is beautiful. We checked into our hotel to be greeted by this magnificent eagle. The picture is of him ( the girls named him Ronnie). He has been perched outside of our window for most of the day. We explored this cute sea town for most of the early afternoon. Not very big. Reminds me of Cape Cod. In the afternoon we all we're very excited because we were taken a boat for a bear glacier tour. We got on this boat around 3:15. On the water it was chilly. The captains name was Mike. He was a little different but had a great sense of humor. We started heading out into Resurrection Bay and than to Prince William Sound. We could wait to see the bears on the glaciers. On our way we saw seal and sea lions, otters, puffins, black beak puffins, star fish and whales! We couldn't understand why the captain was looking for all these animals when we were on a bear glacier tour. After about 2 hours the captain tells us that we are here. We arrived at the glacier and Mike and I couldn't see any bears. Than the captain announces the facts about Bear Glacier. We all laughed so hard! I guess we should have read the brochure carefully because we weren't supposed to see bears, the glacier was named bear glacier. Still had a great boat trip and saw wonderful marine animals and now have another story to tell. Once we got back we went to eat. Food is extremely expensive to get out. An average meal cost around $25.00 per person (nothing fancy)! In the morning we will be going to the marine center and to try and see real bears! We will be getting on our cruise Celebrity Millennium. It sets sail at 9:00pm.
Thank you Memere and Pepere for checking on the house, we really appreciate it. The girls want to say hi to everyone. We are always thinking of you. Sarah every time Alex sees a little girls Ella age she says "Awe I miss Ella" so give her kisses from Alex. Zachary, we saw moose that we thought you would have liked to see. Grampa and Pepere, you would love to go fishing here! Auntie Amy,Uncle Billy, Auntie Julie, &Uncle Grant....Hope your still watching us...we miss you guys too! Thanks for writing Auntie shell! The weather sounds really crummy at home. Not a great way to start the summer. We will just have to bring the good weather back with us. You'll just have to wait. Love you all.
