Day 7

Today was another great day. We had to return the RV today, everyone was kind of sad. We all really enjoyed camping! We did get a rental car today to explore Anchorage. We started our day returning our camping chairs that we bought but never used. Than we checked into the hotel( very nice)! Once we settled in we went the the Anchorage Museum. It is a really cool place, lots to do. They are putting on a huge additon due to open in 2010. Then we went across the street to a Simons Mall (just like home) for a bite to eat. The girls wanted to check out what kind of stores they have here. You might think we were in a far away country according to them. After that we went to Earthquake Park. It was a memorial to the earthquake of Good Friday 1964. Very interesting. Check it out online. It is a beautiful tribute. We followed the road to the water and beach. Looked for some whales known to be in this particular cove. Didn't see any though. Anchorage is a very nice city, bigger than we thought. Clean and easy to get around. Today was a celebration of Canada Day here. If anyone was wondering what the girls were singing in their clip ( the moving terd) they got it from the movie RV. It's a funny movie if you haven't seen it. We watched it before we left. Lucky for us we had none of the experiences like the movie. Auntie Shell asked about one of the pictures, yes that is the side of the road. Imagine traveling that on a school bus. Now imagine another bus trying to pass you.Crazy!
We just finished eating at a nice restaurant called Pi. Was very good. Got the gift certificate from Restaurant.com. Livy got a dessert that is called 6 cookies and milk. When it arrived it was 6 giant cookies and a huge glass of milk. We all laughed at this. We brought 5 of them home. Tonight we are calling it a early night. We are catching the train in the morning. We must be there for 5:30am. Arriving in Seward at 11:10. Then we will check into our hotel and take an afternoon trip on a small boat to see all the marine animals and close look at the glaciers. I hope we have internet at that hotel. Seward is having a major race there on the 4th of July. They run up a mountain in a marathon. They are supposed to have many activities happening. Our friend Maggie's dad lives there and we hope to catch up with him for dinner. Thanks everyone for posting, the girls look forward to reading them everyday. We haven't heard from Memere and Pepere yet. Sarah could you show them how to post(marc and dee too) Miss everyone, but looking forward to the next phase of our trip.
