Seattle

Greetings from Seattle, We had a great last night on the ship. We woke up early to depart for Seattle. We had a little delay getting off the ship and thought we would miss our bus. It felt like we were on the amazing race running for the bus. Made it in time. No problems getting through customs. We arrived in Seattle around 1:00 and picked up our rental car( just like Auntie Shells). Checked into the Marriot. Got a huge room (suite) unexpected. Once we settled in we drove to the Space Needle and Experience Music Project. First, we picked up our City pass that I ordered on line. It allows us to get into many different places. We went to the music experience first. It's like 3 museums in one. A very cool place. Sent most of the day there. It has a Science fiction museum inside it. Uncle Billy would love this. It had star wars and every other sci-fi stuff, even ET! We also went to a special tribute for Jim Henson. It was very cool. Had his life, from his commericals to how he started with the muppets. Mike and the girls put on a skit with the puppets (see pictures). Lots of laughs. Than we went to an interactive music museum. Livy loved all the guitars. They had music from all eras. The girls got to play instruments, sing and have fun. Alex had her picture taken next to Michael Jackson's outfit. Finally we ended our exploring at the Space Needle. It took only 41 seconds to go 520 feet. The pictures of seattle our from the top. Beautiful views. We were very lucky because MT Ranier was out today. This is unusual because the weather usually isn't this nice. In the morning we will be going to the science center, aquarium, and a habor tour. Our flight leaves at 9:55 pm. Although we hate to end this fabulous adventure, we are looking forward to seeing everyone back home. We will pack some sun in our suitcases (although they are very full). Love you all!

Another Beautiful Day

Hi Everyone, The ship has had trouble with their Internet service so we could post as often Yesterday we were in Ketchikan, we had beautiful weather, High 80's and sunny. They are know for having the most rain in the USA. Average 12ft a year. We saw no rain, drizzle or sprinkle (just sunshine). We think MA is going for the record this year. After breakfast we went for a morning of kayaking. It was a lot of fun. We got very close to an eagle and her 2 babies. The babies were almost the same size, Baby eagles are all brown feathers. Their white feathers don't come in until they are almost 2 years old. Very large and beautiful birds to watch. After our kayaking we went back for lunch and then toured the town. Very quite little side streets. Creek street is all old stores built up on the creek. We went to totem park and saw old totem and new ones too. We saw how samon spawn and how the come back to lay there eggs in the same place they were born. It was fun to watch the float planes land and take off right next to our ship. Had a great show last night and went to an amazing midnight buffet Today(Thursday) We all slept in today (even mike didn't get up until 10:30. Today the kids have been gone all day with their friends. Didn't even eat with us for dinner. Nice weather and great views of the inside passage. I will try to post another video but the Internet doesn't always last long enough for it to load. Livy sand in a talent show today, she did very well. In the morning we will be in Vancouver and take the shuttle to Seattle. We checked the weather and it is supposed to be in the 80's and sunny. We have many exciting things to explore there. Hate to say goodbye to Alaska! Happy BirthPepere and Uncle Steve!

skagway

Here are some of the pictures we took yesterday. I have also included the girls trying frog legs! It taste like chicken. We went to a sock hop last night also and Livy danced the night away. Today was another beautiful day. Almost like we are in the Caribbean. The weather is sunny and high 80's. We didn't pack enough summer clothing. They haven't had this kind of weather for many years. We got lucky. Today in Icy Straight (hoonah) was a little town, not much here at all. We spent most of the day swimming on deck in the beautiful sunshine.
Tonight is another formal night and in the morning we are going kayaking. Looking forward to that. Everywhere we look today we saw eagles soaring, whales spouting, and fish just jumping out of the water. We are having a ball. Miss everyone back home. Hope the weather has improved.
